Art of all kinds are friends of mine

A few recent diptychs of mine:

like a morselhotel love x 2upsfather and son

I guess I just felt like seeing them all together.

I'm feeling a little melancholy this evening. I finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time since high school.

  Mr Darcy and Lizzy

(I know most people love the earlier A&E version of the movie, but this is the only one I've seen and I love it. These are the people I saw in my mind as I read the book. )

I really hated it in high school. It struck me then as a bunch of whiney rich people who had no relevance in the lives of myself or my friends.

This time... Oh how I love Mr. Darcy.... and Lizzy... and even Mrs. Bennet, in all of her absurdity. I miss them already.

Am I the only one who gets a little depressed at the conclusion of a page turner? I'm always left feeling a little lonely without that world in which  I  immersed myself so thoroughly. And, I always feel a bit desperate to find that next love affair with text and paper.

Any recommendations out there?

Oh I love how you put words to that feeling. I too have often felt that melancholy sadness. I adore that movie by the way! I actually vaguely remember us on the phone the night before English class discussing either that, or some other Jane Austen novel. Was it read in Junior year? Paulo Coehlo has beautiful books, inspring, about the human condition and psyche.

Thanks for the book recommendation! It does look interesting.

Larissa ~ I remember us talking about it too. It had to be senior year because Jr. year was American lit. I'm pretty sure it was P&P. I think we had to write a diary from one of the character's perspectives or something. Sounds like Miss, wait, what the heck was her name?
Will have to look up Paulo Coehlo. Never heard of him. Thanks!
