Personal Photo Challenge Week Four ~ Brown

(I've been trying to post this since last Sunday!! Egads!!)

I'm realizing that I need to keep these photo week themes relatively simple so that I can have the room to explore subject matter and technique more readily. So, to that end, it's the color brown this week. Such as:

Not a whole lot of work is being done here as we are trying out a new sleeping schedule for mom (and apparently baby too). Instead of staying up until the wee hours of morning I'm going to bed early and trying to get up in wee hours of morning, thinking that I might get some work done before Mr. O is up. He has, however, decided that this is such a good idea that he wants to get up earlier too. ACK!! What!? is a mommy to do? W ell, for now we will keep forging ahead and I'll take what I can get until preschool starts in six weeks or so. Yay for that!! (ughh I always feel so guilty for saying that. I know I will miss him.)

In the meantime, I've been working on a mobile, my first, for Elsie Marley's mobile swap. It's been time consuming but I'm loving the making of a 3D object, as opposed to a 2D photo, drawing, painting, etc. I'm very attracted to the concept of making an object that is functional yet uses materials that I love, such as beautifully designed fabric.

The person who is getting this mobile (in progress) likes squirrels and the colors blue & beige. I hope she likes the final product, whatever that will be. I haven't yet decided how to construct the apparatus that will relate all these pieces together. Oh, and just in case you were wondering... Yes, that is a giant mess on my work table under those mobile pieces. Here's a better view.

I have found, you see, that if I give myself more than a 6"x6" work space I tend to get all uppity and demanding. Apparently, adversity is like miracle grow to my creative soul. There unfortunately is a very thin line between adversity and paralyzing chaos. We are teetering perilously close here my friends.

good to know other people's work tables look as bad as mine. Can't wait to see it all put together!
