This ball for my son was my first completed crochet project. I used the pattern from Martha Stewart found here. Its a little wonky because I lost count of my stitches in a few rows, but overall I'm pretty happy with it. I'd never even looked at a crochet pattern before this, so I had a lot of looking up symbols and shorthand to do, and in the end I was very proud of myself for just jumping in. I'm learning that this is how I work, as an artist, a creator of objects (crafty goodness), as a person. Its a long lesson, or a repetitive one, and I'm sure I'll be revisiting it again soon.
(Sigh! Can't seem to upload my photo at the moment. I will try again later. "%*#@!$%@#! BLOOOGGGGGGGEERRRR!!!!!)

pretty! I don't see any mistakes at all. I love to knit, but for some reason the prospect of crocheting scares me. Kudos to you for giving it a shot. It turned out great.
Hey Carmen, thanks a lot for the encouragement! It seems to me that crocheting is easier than knitting, but maybe that's cause I know how to do one and not the other.. LOL. You should give it a shot. Martha Stewart (on her website) has an illustrated guide for the basics.
