They say that children are the closet that we humans get to nature anymore. I believe it. I feel so far removed, especially this time of year. Southern Cali has the most mildest of seasonal changes and the vaguest hint of cold or rain brings me back to a time when I lived in the Pacific Northwest, when I lived closer to my god (nature), when it was cold in winter, orange in fall, sweet in spring, and a relief in summer. I want so much for my son to know seasons. I want to drench him in nature before he is too disconnected to absorb it.
I don't want to leave the people I love here behind me.
