Momentary reflection on courage...

There are times when I am struck by the courage that life requires of us. Each step we take is toward something better, we hope. But there are no guarantees. Whether it's courage we need for the battle against what may threaten body and mind on a life threatening level, or the courage needed to see past the risk of scrapes and bruises, it's courage through fear with which we are all challenged. We push through, or we stand still. But the requirements never ease. For the sake of something better we must be brave. We must feel the threat and lean into it. In these respects, I'm inclined to believe that we are all heros just for being here.

Inspired by my son learning to ride his bike, and stories of those who fought in, died in, and survived WWII (WWII in HD on the History Channel)
