Our warm and clear days have been few and far between here in Seattle. I'm still trying to figure out what normal weather patterns are here. Our first summer we had record high temps in the 90's with crazy humidity. The second summer had less sever and short lived but similar heat. This year, well, we went something like 115 days, between November and May without the temperature getting up the 70f. (sorry if my math doesn't add up - I'm a liberal arts geek and ADD won't let me check that it's right. That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it.)
We are having warmer days finally, but it's not everyday, nor every week, we get a beautifully warm and clear day like we had on Tuesday last. The boy happens to be on break from preschool so we high tailed it over to what passes for a beach here (very different from what I grew up with in Southern California, but still lovely and most admired for it's unique wonderment). We went completely unprepared, which is best sometimes, and the boy rode home in soggy underwear.
It was fun though, and he is getting so brave. My baby is growing up and I'm dealing with the fact that my everyday buddy will soon be off to Kindergarden and I will have to get a life of my own. The term bittersweet has never felt more apt.
